Guns and Grapple:
Fanfiction

Tomb Raider Fansite

Ostercy Feature

When I first began to plan this site, I contacted a three Tomb Raider fan fiction writers who had caught my eye by having a unique and interesting style of writing which kept the reader gripped. One of these was Ostercy, who was took a great interest in Guns and Grapple even though I hadn't made a project like this before. During the making of this site, the author kept in contact with me offering help if I needed it. I would like to say a big thank you to Ost for all the hard work and paitence. I just wished I could of done this biography sooner : )

Introduction

Ostercy is a talented and famous Tomb Raider Writer who have been into the Tomb Raider fandom since 1997. Ost loaded up a website in 2000 releasing the author's stories on the internet for all to read. The fan site "Ostercy TR Fables" also featured artwork by Agnes Heyer. Ostercy is considered as one of the best Tomb Raider Writers on the internet, the fan's version of Lara made her more realistic and life like, able of human faults, and isn't 100% perfect. Which I believe Lara should be. "I made up my own Lara. I was chiefly concerned that she shouldn't be a big wuss, that she should be very English (and a real Englishwoman, not "Mary Poppins"), that she should be an adult (not just a child in a woman's body) and that she shouldn't necessarily be a "goodie" or a "baddie". " Ost mentioned in our interview. (To see the interview click here)

The First Village of Tokakeriby

In 2001 Ostercy took the role of a judge in a new competition with DOX, Sarah Crisman and Dr. Amazing in the first competition of the village of Tokakeriby. Core Design sponsored the competition and gave several pieces of offical merchandise as a prize as well as a main artwork prize by Agnes Heyer. Thecompetition was to write a story following on from Tomb Raider The Last Revelation, the story must be about 10,000 words in length. The winner of this compeition was "Back to Life" by Tim Radley, who won a specail illistration of his book, plus Eidos T-shirt, Eidos Pen, Lara watch, Lara notepad, Lara picture cards, 4 Tomb Raider/Witchblade comics, Tomb Raider II Gold, Tomb Raider III Gold, Strategy Guide. All the prizes was worth over £100!

The Second Village of Tokakeriby

In 2002, another Village of Tokakeriby competiton was held. The judges were Ost, Tim Radley, Agnes Heyer and White dove. The  contest was to write a Tomb Raider story involving Natla from TR1. Core Design surported the contest by suppling offical Tomb Raider merchandise. The  overall winner was "An eye for an eye" by Dr. Amazing.. The closing date for the stories was 22nd June (Natla's Birthday) and some of the entries are now archived at the Croft Codex. In 2003 Ost became a admin at the "Villiage of Tokakeriby" forum for a short while before writing his autobiography for Natla, and  judging in another competition

The Third Village of Tokakeriby

A few years later, in 2007, Ost took the job as a judge in the latest Villiage of Tokakeriby competition. This time the challenge was to produce a quality piece of fan fiction inspired by Tomb Raider 1 or Tomb Raider Anniversary, with about 10,000 words.

There was not universal agreement among the judges - each of the top three had a champion, and the entries were separated by 2.25 marks (out of a total of 40.)
(This must be the most attention that Pierre has ever received as a character.)

The quote above was from Ostercy's website.                                                                                                   The winner was "Nothing Alike" by Acid Rush, followed closely was Harmonaid with "Haunted by the past." Eidos and Croft Codex sponsored the competition. The judges were Akkon, Heidi, Sarah and Ostercy.

10th Anniversary - Audience

To celebrate the 10th Anniversary Ost wrote an interveiw for the Atlanteen goddess who appeared in TR1 and TRA. Ostercy's Audence is full with humour, it puts Natla in the spot light in a talk show with an interview named Jonathan. It captures the god The interview is a great read and is full with jokes and hidden truths about Natla. It is a must read for all Natla fans.
